Where words
feel at home

The house was built in 1913. In those days, the wealthier residents of the centre of Villefranche-de-Rouergue sought higher ground and built detached houses with large green gardens in the hillsides. The Cadars family had this house built on the Avenue du Ségala. It stayed in the family for over a century, until after her death the sons of Anne-Marie Cadars sold it in 2024 to Hanneke Koene — former bookseller and wordsmith — who created the writer's residency Villa des Mots.

The garden

An outdoor space
to breathe

The garden borders the protected city wall of Villefranche. A pergola with grape vines, a kitchen garden and a lounger under plane trees await those who need a break from the words.
